Routine and consistent data collection is required to address contemporary transportation issues. The cost of increases significantly when sophisticated machines are used collect data. Due this constraint, State Departments Transportation struggle for analyzing resolving problems in a timely manner. Recent advancements sensors integrated into smartphones have resulted more affordable method collection. primary objective study develop implement smartphone-based application transportation-related app consists three major modules: frontend graphical user interface (GUI), sensor module, backend module. While the GUI enables interaction with app, modules relevant such as video, gyroscope, motion accelerometer readings while use. leverages real-time database stream store from sensors, together providing computational resources needed support application. In comparison other developed apps collection, not overly reliant on internet enabling be internet-restricted areas. Additionally, designed multipurpose applications transportation. collected were analyzed variety purposes, including calculating International Roughness Index (IRI), identifying pavement distresses, understanding driver’s behaviors environment. From data, we detected turning movements, lane changes estimated IRI values. addition, several distresses identified video machine learning.
